Can tech be a force for good? It鈥檚 complicated.
This year, the Consumer Electronics Show has partnered with the United Nations and the 被窝影视福利 of Arts and Science as part of a larger campaign to promote 鈥渉uman security鈥 鈥 often defined as 鈥渇reedom from fear鈥 and 鈥渇reedom from want.鈥 The Human Security for All campaign is working to 鈥渃ultivate collaboration and innovation across all industries, all countries, to improve the human experience.鈥

Working to improve the human condition ultimately pays dividends, said Ketan Patel, a longtime Goldman Sachs banker who now runs the Force for Good Foundation. 鈥淚f you add to the purpose of every tech company, all of a sudden you have a moral purpose, you have something that could be hugely profitable,鈥 Patel said, 鈥渂ecause your technology reaches a customer base that (previously) was not profitable.鈥
