Future of Knowledge

This initiative is grounded in the recognition that the future of civilization depends not only on generating more knowledge, but on how knowledge is understood, integrated, and used. Traditional disciplinary boundaries and linear models of reasoning are increasingly inadequate for addressing complex, interconnected challenges such as climate change, technological risk, social inequality, and global instability. The project therefore explores new frameworks that emphasize integration, coherence, and meaning.
A central focus of the initiative is the transition from information to understanding and from understanding to wisdom. Knowledge must be organized in ways that reveal relationships, consequences, and long-term implications. This requires combining empirical evidence with systems thinking, ethical reflection, and human insight. The project highlights the importance of transdisciplinary approaches that bridge science, social inquiry, culture, and lived experience.
The initiative also addresses the impact of emerging technologies on knowledge itself. Artificial intelligence, automation, and digital platforms are transforming how knowledge is produced, validated, and shared. These tools offer unprecedented opportunities to democratize access and enhance collective intelligence, but they also raise questions about reliability, bias, and human agency.
Ultimately, the Future of Knowledge project seeks to advance a vision of knowledge as a public good that supports human security, sustainable development, and conscious social evolution. By reimagining knowledge systems for the future, the initiative aims to ensure that humanity鈥檚 expanding intellectual power is guided by responsibility, insight, and shared purpose.

By focusing on the social consequences of the knowledge revolution, the event sought to define a new paradigm for “reliable knowledge”鈥攐ne that moves beyond fragmented, siloed thinking to empower resilient societies and provide a values-based foundation for global governance, education, and sustainable development.
